FANTAB Indications (Uses)

Concussions and mild traumatic brain injury do not result in abnormalities on CT scans or MRI scans. The neurological examination is also typically normal despite symptoms of memory and attention difficulties and mood problems. The FANTAB test identifies concussion-related and mTBI with 84% accuracy.

There is not currently any specific treatment for concussions or mTBI. FANTAB diagnoses but does not treat these conditions. FANTAB provides objective evidence of injury in medical-legal proceedings such as the NFL Settlement administration.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that each year there are 1.7 million traumatic brain injuries not requiring hospitalization.

There are 4000 NFL retired players participating in the NFL Settlement and over 18,000 NFL alumni who may be eligible for compensation from the Settlement, based on a physician diagnosis.

The most common medical diagnosis code is "mild" Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI) (ICD-9 331.83). The MRI facility and professional procedure codes (CPT) for the test are 70555, and 96020, respectively.
